Savernake Park Play Area – Savernake Road

The play area at Savernake Park was refurbished a few years ago and now has a good range of plat equipment for both your and older children to enjoy. While it’s mostly used by families who live in the Westlands area of Chelmsford, it’s with stopping by if you’re on that side of town.

The playground at Savernake Park is in the middle of a grass area which is surrounded by trees and has a basketball hoop with an area of hard standing and some benches scattered about.

While the play area is surfaced, there is only one path across the grass so you’ll need to use that to avoid getting muddy in the winter months.

Equipment for Toddlers at Savernake Park

For the toddlers, the play area has a small climbing frame with steps and a small slide. There are two baby swings and two springers.

There is a roundabout suitable for all ages which has compass directions around it that my kids quite liked. Younger children might also enjoy the basket swing on the older children’s side of the park.

Equipment for Older Children at Savernake Park

For the older children there is a good sized climbing frame which includes a slide, a wobbly bridge, a cargo net, a climbing wall and monkey bars.

There are two regular swings along with the basket swing and a multi sided shape for climbing on. It has metal corners which get very hot on a sunny day.

My daughter’s favourite feature was this aerial runway type thing, she loves anything you can hang off so this was right up her street!

In the middle of the play area there is a grass area with a few picnic benches which is nice for picnics or snack breaks in the summer.

Savernake Park has no toilets so make sure you go before you leave and bring a potty for littler children. If you’re caught out I’d guess the nearest ones would be the Clocktower Retail Park. There’s no car park but there’s plenty of street parking available.

Other Parks nearby include Paradise Park in Writtle or Hylands Park.
