Marsh Farm Animal Adventure Park is located in South Woodham Ferrers, just to the South East of Chelmsford. It’s about a 30 minutes drive from Chelmsford Town Centre. It was originally owned by Essex County Council but has been privately run for the last ten years or so.
Marsh Farm is a nice day out for all the family with something for everyone from toddlers to tweens and even teenagers if they are animal lovers. Having said that, I think the age range who will probably get the best value for money is 3 to 8 year olds. If you have a child who likes animals, they might also enjoy the wildlife at Hanningfield Reservoir.
While it’s become much more than a farm, Marsh Farm does still have the traditional farm animals, as well as some not so traditional ones. There are cows, sheep, pigs, ponies, chickens, rabbits, guinea pigs, birds and ferrets. The pigs have regular babies and they run a lamb themed event most springs.
Other Feature at Marsh Farm Chelmsford
A few years ago they added a crazy golf course which my 10 year old really likes and, given the price of crazy gold these days, feels like it adds value to the visit.
They have two bouncy pillows which means little ones and big ones can jump separately. The the summer there are a range of bouncy castles out in the Events area.
There is a large outdoor playground with lots of fun features and an area for younger children to drive ride on tractors. Tractor and trailer rides run at regular intervals, they go out on the marsh land which is interesting to see.
Inside, there is a large soft play which also serves hot and cold food, drinks and ice creams. There is also a second cafe near the entrance which is quieter and a stand alone ice cream stand that is open on busy days.
March fun runs regular seasonal events like Santa’s Grotto, Pumpkin picking and Easter egg hunts.
There are plenty of toilets dotted around the farm and a large, free car park is available for visitors. There is also a well stocked gift shop to visit.
