Coronation Park Chelmsford is located in Timsons Lane in Springfield. It is home to Chelmsford Rugby Club as well as a Springfield Cricket Club. It is run by Chelmsford City Council.
This park has a great play frame for older children but only limited equipment suitable for very young children. If you have very young children checkout Great Baddow Recreation Ground or Paradise Road Play Area. It’s small enough to make it easy to keep an eye on multiple children.
The Play Equipment
The playground offers a zip wire, which my children love but this one wasn’t very fast. There are two swings which are extra deep and more comfortable tha your average swing (although not really wide enough for adults!) There is an excellent play frame for bigger children with lots of things to climb up and hang off of. It has a climbing wall, cargo nets and the things you can stand on and spin round in.
There are also the pieces of equipment pictured below. They seem to be aimed at younger children but I’m honestly not sure how they are meant to be played with. My children suggested one was perhaps just for sitting on. I had a look through the binoculars but unfortunately you can’t see anything through them.
The larger one features this which looks like it might be fun for playing cooking or shops.
Other Features at Coronation Park Chelmsford
There is a large grass area for playing games when it isn’t being used for training by the football and cricket clubs.
There are toilets available and a large free car park. Once you turndown Timmons Lane, lookout for the “in” sign on the right hand side which takes you into the car park. My sat nav told me to stay left so I missed the entrance on our first visit.
The postcode for Coronation Park is CM2 6AF. You can find more information on the Council’s Website.
