Chelmer Village Green is located in Chelmer Village, just behind the large Asda store. You can access it via Chelmer Village Square or via Ashton Place. Although the playground is run by Chelmsford City Council it isn’t listed on their website.
Chelmer Village Green has a very modern playground with equipment for both older and younger children. Everything is close enough together to make it easy to supervise multiple children. While there is some good equipment for older children, toddlers will really enjoy this park.
The Playground at Chelmer Village Green
For the younger children, there is a balancing area with a bridge and posts to stand on, baby swings, talking tubes, a safari car to ride in and a giant dolphin springer that multiple children can go on at once.
There is also a great little climbing frame with steps, two slides, a cargo net and mini climbing wall.
For the older children there are two regular swings and a basket swing.
The highlight for my daughter was the zip wire which is bit different to most of the others in the area as, instead of sitting on it, you hang on to it with your hands and dangle below it.
The zip wire is part of a larger climbing structure that includes ladders, slide bars and a bridge.
There is also this very odd piece of equipment which would probably be better placed in the outdoor gym.
My favourite thing was this seesaw which was great because my 8 year and I could make it work well together despite the differences in our weight.
The playground is fully surfaced so great for all weathers. Coronation Park isn’t very far away.
Chelmer Village Green also has an outdoor gym, lots of pleasant green space and a basketball court.
The easiest place to park is in the Asda car park, the postcode is CM2 6RE.
